The Tunnel Rats

Flickr

Soldiers from the US 101st Airborne Division are shown checking the entrance to a tunnel, just one of many in the vast Vietcong complex. The Cu Chi tunnels are the infamous network of tunnels in the Cu Chi District of Saigon that were used as hiding spots, supply routes, headquarters, and storage facilities by the Viet Cong and the tunnel rats are volunteer American and Australian combat engineers and infantrymen who belong to a unit tasked to perform search and destroy missions underground. These missions not only present danger in the form of enemy combatants, but also from booby traps and possibility of the tunnel collapsing on them.
