Charla Nash was viciously attacked by a male domesticated chimpanzee in February of 2009, leaving her with grotesque injuries. The attack of Travis, the 200-pound chimp of Charla’s friend, was so vicious that Carla lost both arms and sustained injuries to her face so massive that she also lost both eyes, and had her nose and ears severed. Police was able to kill the animal but unfortunately not before it caused permanent damage, leaving the girl unrecognizable after the incident. She has since been the recipient of a face transplant.
