Leon van Biljon, The “Lion Man”

Leon van Biljon, a 70-year old South African safari lodge owner, was mauled to death by lions on his game reserve in August of 2019. Known as the “Lion Man,” van Biljon was said to be fixing a broken fence on his Mahala View Lion Lodge in Cullinan when he was attacked and killed by his own lions. The three big cats were reportedly shot dead to allow rescuers to save him but he eventually succumbed to the injuries he sustained.
