Maddox Derkosh

Maddox Derkosh was a two-year old boy who was killed in November 2012 by a pack of African wild dogs when he fell in their pit at the Pittsburgh Zoo. He was apparently lifted by his mother to the railing to allow him a better view of the dogs but somehow fell when he leaned forward for a closer look. Although there was a netting below, it was not intended to catch people, and he bounced and subsequently got pounced on by a pack consisting of 11 painted dogs. He died due to severe blood loss.
