Stacking clay pots one on top of another can make them stick, and separating them can be quite difficult. Forcing the pots apart might break them, which is why treating them with WD-40 before stacking and storing them is a good idea. 
The rough surface of clay pots tends to grip those of other pots, causing them to “fuse” together.
