25. Keep Locks from Freezing

Leaving locks exposed to the elements can lead to “freezing.” Rusty and corroded locks become difficult to turn because their mechanisms become fused or “frozen” together when left in the open for extended periods. Locks can also literally ice-up and freeze during the winter season. Outdoor locks become drenched with moisture which turn to ice as soon as the temperature drops. 
Stuck-up locks can be quite a headache to address, so make sure to have a can of WD-40 handy to loosen them up. 
You can also treat brand new locks with the popular aerospace lubricant which can help stop rust, corrosion, and ice from setting in, ensuring that they will keep on working properly.
