Part of keeping skis and snowboards in good condition is regularly re-waxing them. Proper re-waxing entails the removal of old wax from the surface of boards. This sounds easy but, in reality, it’s actually quite a chore. It entails a lot of elbow grease and effort, if only there was something to make it easier.
Fortunately, there is, and it comes in a trusty yellow and blue can.
WD-40 contains solvents that breakdown oil and grease. Since wax is closely related, the lubricant works quite well on it to. Spray some WD-40 onto the base of the board before scraping with an acrylic scraper. The lubricant separates the wax from the board surface, thanks to its hydrophobic properties.
Brush the base to make sure everything is completely clean; after which, you may now apply a fresh coat of wax onto the ski or snowboard you just cleaned.
