40. World’s Most Expensive Bicycle Sold – $500,000
It seems crazy that a bicycle would cost half a million, but that’s actually the price of the world’s most expensive bicycles in the world. The $500,000 Trek Butterfly Madone bike sold at a Sotheby’s cancer benefit charity auction, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The designer of this bike Damien Hirst, used real natural wings from butterflies which a number of animal activists and animal-protection organizations were quite upset about. But it didn’t stop them from making it anyway, or from someone paying half a million for it either.
