33rd President of the US upon the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Remembered as the President that allowed the use of nuclear weapons during the war, on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Also known for seeking United Nations policy approval for the action known as the Korean War. Truman is also remembered for implementing the Marshall Plan to rebuild the economies of Western Europe, where the US donated about $12 billion worth of economic assistance. He also established the Truman Doctrine, and NATO.
