Son of former President George H.W. Bush and the 43rd US President. George W. Bush graduated from Yale University in 1968, and the Harvard Business School in 1975. He was elected in 2000 where he narrowly defeated incumbent Vice-President Al Gore in a highly contested victory that involved a recount in the state of Florida. Known for his “War on Terror” that initially included the war in Afghanistan in 2001, and the Iraq war in 2003. This was a response to the 9-11 terrorist attacks, which increased his popularity ratings. However, the 2008 financial crisis brought down tremendously his ratings.
