Father of President George W. Bush, George Herbert Walker Bush was the 41st President from 1989 to 1993. He also was formerly the CIA Director, a congressman and an ambassador. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Navy upon his 18th birthday and became one of its youngest aviators. He was Vice-President to President Ronald Reagan, and maintained a low profile. In his presidential campaign, Bush defeated Dukakis in what is now considered as one of the “dirtiest” election campaigns in modern times. As President, Bush signed one of the most significant pro-civil rights bills in decades, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  He lost to Bill Clinton in his reelection bid.
