William Howard Taft (126)

Brewminate

Taft was the 27th President of the United States elected in 1908 with the help of Roosevelt. He later on became the 10th Chief Justice, and the only person to have held both offices. He served as the civilian Governor of the Philippines in 1901, appointed by President Mckinley. Taft was elected President in 1908, the chosen successor of Theodore Roosevelt. However, he was defeated in his re-election bid by Woodrow Wilson in 1912. This was due to Roosevelt splitting the Republican vote by forming and running as a third party candidate after he lost the Republican nomination to his protege, Taft.
