The 7th President of the US who also was a soldier and a statesman who served both houses of Congress. Best remembered for his victory in the Battle of New Orleans in 1815, but became unpopular as President with his Indian Removal Act of 1830 which relocated members of Native American tribes in the south to “Indian Territory.” After serving two terms as President, Jackson was replaced by his chosen successor Martin Van Buren.
