The 44th President of the US and the only one who was African American. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1961, barely 2 years after it became the 50th state. He was elected President in 2009, and within the same year was named the Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Obama signed many landmark bills into law on the first two years as President. The most known was the Affordable Care Act, also called “Obamacare.” He increased US troops in Afghanistan, ordered military involvement in Libya versus Gaddafi, as well as ordering military operations that eventually resulted in the death of Osama Bin Laden. His presidency has been recognized by scholars as favourable, belonging to the upper tier of American presidents.
