Kamokuna, Hawaii has an infernal reputation. Masses of different lava flows that look like Dante’s imagining of the damned are actually what makes up the “Lava Skylight”, where pieces of cooled magma break off and expose the tubes running underneath. These tubes are filled with molten lava, and the heat from this gives off a kind of an eerie glow. If ever you do head on over to Kamokuna, make sure you watch where you step.
