Talk To Me About Austria

This is a photo of the floating stage at the Bregenz Festival in 2013 in Vorarlberg. Known as the Seebuehne or the floating opera stage of the festival, it is redecorated every year and the open-air theater has become widely known for its artistic design and grand scale. The floating stage was also featured in the 2008 James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. The origin of the floating stage dates back to 1946 when the first Bregenz Festival was held, and the city of Bregenz didn’t have a single theater. Organizers instead thought to build a floating stage along the shoreline of Lake Constance. The Seebuehne has been the focal point of the festival every year since.
