Now a famous and successful rapper, record producer, and fashion designer, it’s hard to imagine a 15-year-old Kanye Omari West working at the Gap and not able to afford any of the clothes. Though he didn’t get an employee discount since he was only working part-time as a high school student, he gave the store credit for inspiring his passion for style, appreciating the fabrics and colors of the expensive apparel. He even mentioned his time at the store in his song “Spaceship.”

Today, the former sales assistant is a critically acclaimed musician with over a hundred million records sold around the globe. West has won 21 Grammy Awards, and Time magazine has listed him among the most influential people in the world in 2005 and 2015. He is married to the American socialite and media personality Kim Kardashian.
