Harrison Ford Was A Self-Taught Carpenter

Harrison Ford has played so many iconic roles since he gained worldwide fame as the reckless and sarcastic smuggler-turned-hero, Han Solo, in the original trilogy of Star Wars. He’s also well-known as the whip-yielding, globe-trotting professor of archeology, Indiana Jones. Ford also starred as Jack Ryan in the spy thriller films based on Tom Clancy’s novels and the US president James Marshall in Air Force Once. Not limited to action-packed films, Ford likewise played dramatic roles as an adulterous husband in the supernatural horror film What Lies Beneath and a recovering amnesiac in Regarding Henry.
Before Ford became one of the high-grossing box-office stars of all time, he majored in philosophy and took a drama class only in his senior year in college to get over his shyness. Unable to land a job doing voice-overs in radio, he did bit roles in films and television series. Unhappy with the parts he was getting, Ford taught himself carpentry to supplement his income and support his family.
Today, the legendary actor and environmental activist who built his own white ranch-style house still does carpentry.
