Before Steve Buscemi started his acting career in his 1986 debut film The Way It Is, he was a New York firefighter from 1980 to 1984 at Engine Company 55 in Manhattan’s Italian neighborhood. During the 9/11 attacks, he returned to Engine 55, readily wore his bunker gear, and volunteered alongside other firefighters.
The American actor, writer, director, and producer has starred in many blockbuster films, including Reservoir Dogs, Desperado, Con Air, and Armageddon. He also provided his voice talent in the animated films and their sequels, Monsters, Inc. and Hotel Transylvania. Buscemi has earned several awards and nominations for his performance in the critically acclaimed series Boardwalk Empire.
Trivia: Buscemi refuses to fix his teeth. Even though dentists have offered to correct his misaligned teeth, he opted to keep his crooked smile which has helped him effectively portray the roles he was given.
