The Canadian actress and activist who quickly rose to fame with her breakout role as a teen diva in the 2004 film Mean Girls wasn’t as successful with her earlier stint at McDonald’s. A 16-year-old Rachel McAdams got the job at the fast food chain because her sister was a manager there, but young McAdams kept washing her hands and holding up the drive-through line, and she also broke the orange juice machine.
Fortunately, McAdams switched from flipping burgers in the kitchen to performing on stage and on screen. She was hailed as Hollywood’s new “It Girl” with her string of romantic comedies, as well as the romantic drama film The Notebook, the psychological thriller Red Eye, and the comedy-drama The Family Stone. Her acting career continues to flourish with her roles in big hits, including the political thriller State of Play, the sci-fi romantic drama The Time Traveler’s Wife, the romantic comedy-drama About Time, and the biographical film Spotlight.
