The English Rockstar was a well-known leading figure in the music industry, recognized as one of the most influential musical artists of the 20th century. Before his dramatic, visual presentations and transformations as Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, The Thin White Duke, or Jareth, the powerful and enigmatic Goblin King in Labyrinth, David Bowie was a butcher’s delivery boy. He cycled all around Bromley, delivering sausages and other meat products to customers.
Bowie took the job when he was 13 to pay for saxophone lessons with the British saxophonist Ronnie Ross. A little over a decade after the music lessons, Bowie produced Lou Reed’s “Walk on the Wild Side” where Ross plays a solo saxophone part.
During his lifetime, Bowie sold about 140 million albums worldwide. He released 11 number-one albums, and he received ten platinum, eleven gold, and eight silver album certifications in the UK. In the US, he was awarded five platinum and nine gold certifications. In 1996, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
