Jason Momoa Was The Youngest Lifeguard In The Gulf Coast

Before becoming king of Atlantis, the proud Hawaiian worked part-time in a surf shop and, in his teens, was the youngest lifeguard in the Gulf Coast. Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa was discovered and encouraged to be a model, then he was cast—unsurprisingly—as a lifeguard in the TV series Baywatch Hawaii. Before landing a role in Stargate: Atlantis, he resided in an Airstream trailer in Valencia.

After effectively putting some fear into the casting directors of Game of Thrones when he auditioned for the role of Khal Drogo with a Maori battle performance of movements and chants, he was chosen as chief of the Dothraki people, and he immediately caught the public’s eye in the first season.

Interestingly enough, the manliest man on the face of the earth never lifted weights before he trained for his role in the 2011 sword and sorcery film Conan the Barbarian. Not a fan of the gym, his regular workout consisted mainly of climbing, running, swimming, and surfing—which sounds more like Aquaman’s exercise regimen.
