It’s interesting to know that one of the most academically inclined and politically knowledgeable presidents had struggled with reading and writing until he was thirteen. Thomas Woodrow Wilson had suffered from developmental dyslexia, but he overcame this and graduated from Princeton University with a degree in political philosophy and history. Wilson entered Johns Hopkins University to become a professor, received a Ph.D., and taught at Bryn Mawr College. He returned to Princeton as a professor where he gained a reputation as the greatest classroom lecturer ever heard. He also wrote several works of history and political science and was elected as President of Princeton University. He left political teaching to pursue a career in politics where he would have an opportunity to put his policies in place. Wilson became Governor of New Jersey in 1910, and after only two years, he was elected president. Wilson may not have amassed a fortune in his lifetime, but he gained a wealth of knowledge, experience, and respect.
