The Jews were horrendously targeted by the Nazis, and thousands of them were forced out of their homes, separated from their families and made to ride trains that would take them straight to concentration camps. This photo shows a mother running with her daughter as they escape one of those death trains, while the other girls in the background pose triumphantly as they make their escape. Although no one knows the fate of these women from the photo, what this shows is yet another awful reminder of the plight of the Jews.
