With the war going on for at least five years, soldiers from every nation were forced to endure days, weeks, months and years of fighting, loss, and just pure exhaustion from a war that felt like it was never going to end. These American soldiers were photographed covered in dust, grime and soot, taking some time to simply enjoy a break from two full days of fighting with a hot cup of coffee. It might not have been much, but for them, it was a moment of peace.
