Soldiers have very difficult lives. Not only do they need to leave their families behind, but they are often deployed far away from home without any reassurance that they would make it back home. This photo depicts a soldier being hugged by his wife on one side while his young son clings to his legs on the other side. This soldier was given time off from active duty to stay with his family for the holidays, but whether this was when he arrived or he was about to leave once more isn’t known.
