Given how crazy the war was, and all the killing that was going on, soldiers had to find ways to keep themselves safe, even if it meant dressing up like a bear. For these German soldiers, it was said that they needed to attempt different types of tactics in order to hide in the forest and remain unnoticed. Although his bear suit isn’t exactly the best way to camouflage himself in the outdoors, it probably deterred most opponents from going near him if they didn’t have their guns nearby. But what no one knows is if he wasn’t eventually hunted for sport, although many would probably say that it would be the proper payback for his abhorrent deeds against the Jews.
