Towards the end of the war, people were more than ready to put all those deadly and gruesome years behind them. When France was finally liberated, people crowded the streets in jubilee as they celebrated finally being free from the Nazi regime. One of the best views of this joyous occasion could be seen from the top of the Arc de Triomphe, one of France’s most quintessential landmarks. It was a day that the people would never forget, finally being able to release a huge sigh of relief that Hitler was going down.
