Prisoners of war, or POWs, were people that were kept or held in captivity during war whether for legitimate or invalid reasons. Of course during World War II, with the number of people and nations that were involved, the number of POWs was also excessive. This photograph, which was taken on August 21, 1944, shows thousands of German prisoners of war being held on a plot of land. But today, this is actually called the Nonant-le-Pin, which is actually now farmland in France.
