With Queen Elizabeth leading the Royal Armed Forces in Britain, women in the military weren’t as strange. Here, two women from the Women’s Royal Navy Service (WRNS) were photographed rearming a Hawker Hurricane plane before it was released back out into combat. During a time when women were thought to be more fragile and unable to handle what most would consider “men’s work,” this picture conveys exactly how women can be an asset to any institution.
