While a number of toy companies and other manufacturers make toy money, the United States Treasury department has made the act of photocopying colored money illegal as well. And even if someone wanted to, according to Business Insider, U.S. paper money is actually embedded with a chip that makes it impossible to do so. The chip, which is called the Counterfeit Deterrence System, will actually alert authorities when someone is attempting to duplicate money via photocopier or printer, which will cause the machine to go into “error” mode and not print at all.
