Ivory

Following Green Living

Ivory trade has been an issue for many decades, with poachers actually killing up to 30,000 elephants every year despite worldwide bans in place. Unfortunately, a number of these majestic creatures are killed purely for their tusks and nothing else, leaving their bodies for disposal. Like a number of other laws, this one has a loophole that allows people to sell old ivory for as long as it was made or purchased before the law took place. But by 2016, President Obama managed to end the issue by calling a ban on the buying and selling of ivory regardless of the year it was produced.
