Another weapon that has since been banned, nunchucks were popularized by none other than Kungfu master Bruce Lee when he became the biggest name in martial arts history. And as Lee rose to fame in the 70s with all of this films, so did the crime rate in many cities, including New York, with a number of them using nunchucks as their weapon of choice. They ended up being associated with gangs that became famous for muggings and assaults. This weapon was eventually banned by a number of states by the year 1974 but in 2018, New York chose to change the ban on nunchucks claiming that it was unconstitutional infringement on Second Amendments right. They have yet to be fully released from their former ban though.
