Not that we oppose having a great kitchen appliance, but here’s yet another ad that shows a woman as a dutiful wife, expected to cook and slave away in the kitchen all day, chef’s hat and all. Once again, it’s another horrific ad by Kenwood Chef no less, saying “The Chef does everything but cook – that’s what wives are for!” While this appliance does help whip up dough and mix tons of ingredients, it doesn’t take care of the kids, wash the plates, fry the steak or fetch a beer. In fact, it doesn’t cook because again, that’s what wives are for! Geez, and what this ad is for is reminding us about how sexist times were back then.
