Here’s yet another ad advocating domestic violence. Apparently, Chase & Sanborn Coffee claimed that “If your husband ever finds out you’re not “store-testing” for fresher coffee…” then he could put his wife over his knee and beat her. It seems crazy that not too long ago, society found it completely acceptable for men to spank their wives if she dared buy coffee that wasn’t packed for freshness and sold in sealed, pressurized cans. Unfortunately, beating women is still a common occurrence these days, but seeing ads like this proves that its roots reach much deeper than anyone would like to admit.
