How another public announcement could be so incredibly sexist yet accepted is truly beyond understanding, but ads like this actually hung on walls before. Crazy as it sounds, apparently there was a time when a man could “fire” his wife if she couldn’t cook. But then rather than divorce her, as the ad suggests, it says to “keep her for a pet and eat at our place,” which is just another example of the chauvinistic world that women had to live in, in earlier generations, and part of the reason why feminism was born in the first place.
