Apparently, even when you’re married, man expect that you always watch your appearance and there’s “No reason to neglect stockings!” because “Husbands admire wives who keep their stocking perfect!” The ad even goes on to say that “Constant runs are unsightly and expensive – cut them down with LUX.” God forbid you ever have a strand of hair out of place, but women were expected to be perfectly coiffed, proper, motherly, subservient and who knows what else as a housewife in the 50s. Thank goodness those days are over because if men expected all of this today, they’d never find a wife!
