Outside the Hotel

As part of the official tour to North Korea, everyone is told where to go, what to do, and also when to do these things. At the same time, you will be watched by the tour guides and in some cases North Korean soldiers who are around. The photo above shows what it is like outside the hotel complex in Kaesong (which is near the DMZ or demilitarized zone). According to Eric Lafforgue, while inside a hotel complex in Kaesong he asked one of the guides if he can go outside, he was told “Why do you want to go outside? It is the same as in(side) the hotel.” Now, you should wonder why the guides didn’t want him to go outside.
