The picture above shows an old lady and a child standing on a mud road in between fields of rice. Despite scenes like this, the North Korean government would like all North Koreans to believe that the entire world is in great awe of their achievements. The picture above is something that the authorities would prefer not to be taken and shown to the world, since this photograph portrays a very simple life that is contrary to the image that the North Korean Propaganda is trying to depict to the world. There is nothing supposedly wrong in living a simple rural life. However, the scene in the picture would imply that the typical North Korean lives a simple agricultural life and is in most cases living in poverty.
