One of the premiere research universities in the country, the University of Delaware in Newark was founded in 1743, making it one of the oldest as well. Its 18 research core facilities have made a great impact in medicine, technology, and other areas. The university enrolls over 24,000 students, with over 150 majors, 51 doctoral and 131 master’s programs (14 of which are dual degree programs) to choose from, not to mention the country’s oldest study abroad program which started in 1923. Its Physical Therapy graduate program was named number 1 in the nation in 2016, while Finance, Biological Sciences, Marketing, Nursing, and Psychology are some of the most popular majors nowadays.
