The oldest university in South Dakota, established in 1862, the University of South Dakota is an important institution in the state since its graduates consist of 70% of the state’s attorneys and 48% of its physicians. Based on the number of attorneys and physicians as its alumni, it is safe to say that nursing, psychology, education, and biology are the more famous fields of study in USD. Over 10,000 students are enrolled across the university’s eight schools which offer over 200 undergraduate and almost 70 graduate programs, with over 90% of freshmen receiving financial aid.
