Established in 1817, the University of Michigan is the oldest university in the state, as well as the top public research university in the nation. Its 19 schools and colleges offer 263 degree programs, and with over 29,000 undergraduates from Ann Arbor campus alone, and has a 15:1 student-faculty ratio.
