Established in 1836 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, Emory University has developed into one of the best private institutions known for its liberal arts colleges and excellent healthcare services. The university has nine schools that offer more than 70 undergraduate and over 40 doctoral programs, with over 15,000 students and an 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Classified with having a “very high research activity,” the university is among the largest contributors to the country in terms of discovery of new drugs and vaccines and has a strong partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
