The University of Washington is a 703-acre campus founded in 1861 and it is one of the oldest universities on the West Coast, with over 140 departments across its 16 schools and colleges. The university has produced seven Noble Prize winners and 5,174 awards. It is the primary medical college for students all over the West Coast. Since it receives the most federal funding from the government, they were able to sustain 296 research centers including centers for Alzheimer’s disease, sustainable forestry, public health genetics, and international security.
