Establishing its roots in 1853, this public research university is a member of the AAU and is also classified as a Research University with Very High Research with more than 10,000 active research projects. Aside from coming up with Gatorade, some of the most notable research centers on gravitational wave, brain cancer, and soft matter solutions. Currently the eighth best public university in the nation, its 16 different colleges offer more than 120 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate programs, with The Innovation Academy as one of the most popular. Recreation is also a big part of university life, with a lot of amenities for sports and some of the best facilities in the country, which help sustain the school’s success in athletics, as it competes in Division I of the NCAA.
