Brown University is a famous university known all over the globe, and is a member of the Ivy League. Founded in 1764 and sitting on a 143-acre urban campus, its most notable alumni include John F. Kennedy Jr., Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, and actor and UN Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson. Known as the most eccentric and liberal of all the Ivies, Brown University is the first to accept students regardless of religion. Its 10,000 students attend an open curriculum system in over 40 academic departments, with 80 bachelor’s, 32 master’s, and 51 doctoral programs. It is also one of the hardest universities to get in to, as it only accepts 9% of its applicants.
