This private liberal arts and sciences college allows its students to personalize their course of study depending on their interests so that the curriculum will keep them more engaged, with only the First Year Tutorial as the common denominator, as it aims to build a strong foundation in first-year students. Established in 1846, the school has emerged as one of the country’s top liberal arts colleges with more than 500 courses being offered in 27 majors, the more popular of which include Psychology, Economics, Biology, History, and English. Although there’s no Greek life in campus, there are over 150 student clubs and organizations to choose from. The school also award the Grinnell Prize to students who have shown outstanding leadership in their fields while pushing for social change.
