Iowa, like all other states on this list, also has its faults, and infrastructure is one of it. The Hawkeye State has the worst bridges in the US, with 5,000 of its spans being found “structurally deficient” by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association.
Forbes also ranks Iowa 44th out of the 50 states for innovation, primarily for a lack in science and engineering graduates, low financial support for small businesses, and small share of tech-related companies.
