Best:
Charleston, South Carolina, has been voted as one of the best cities in America to travel to. Visitors are entranced by the old-world allure of the place, especially since South Carolina has the best weather in the US for sight-seeing.
All that walking around, taking in the sights and sounds of The Palmetto State, can get you thirsty. Luckily, South Carolina also has the best sweet tea to quench your thirst. A tall glass of the sugary liquid, made from local tea harvested from the only commercial tea plantation in the state, will surely perk you up and give you that boost you need to make the most out of your day.
Worst:
Indeed, South Carolina residents know their tea, but they also know their booze as evidenced by a rather dark statistic. The state has the most number of deaths from DUIs than any other place in America.
Darker still is South Carolina’s record of elderly abuse. The Center for Disease Control defines elder abuse as “an intentional act, or failure to act, by a caregiver or another person in a relationship involving an expectation of trust that causes or creates a risk of harm to an older adult.” That said, South Carolina found itself dead-last in WalletHub’s report on elderly abuse, getting 50th spot out of the 51 places it surveyed.
