Best:
North Carolina has been ranked as the best place for millennial living, particularly the city of Durham, NC. Its high number of job opportunities, coupled with its low cost of living makes it the perfect place for members of the younger generation to start their careers.
The Tar Heel State is also home to The Outer Banks, which is often considered as one of the best tourist destinations in the US, thanks to its beautiful beaches, state parks and shipwreck dive spots.
Worst:
Despite having a low cost of living, North Carolina has one of the worst eviction rates in the country. It also has some of the highest incidences of sexually-transmitted disease found in the country, which include syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea. Not only that, A CDC study found that people living in the state are thrice more likely to suffer a heart attack compared to others living elsewhere in the country.
Food is also a problem in North Carolina, which gets fifth place in a US News raking of states plagued by food insecurity.
